Her First Roll

Ellie does already have plenty of rolls on her legs and arms, but today she rolled onto her side twice on her own!  A big accomplishment indeed.  We’ve been making faces at each other non-stop and baby-talking all day long when she’s awake.  I love that she’s so responsive now!  She smiles all the time and holds her arms out all the way at her sides – it’s just too cute.

There have been quite a few other big things starting in the last week:

1. We had our first PEPS meeting on Monday.  It was great to be in a room with a bunch of people who are in our shoes.  We actually know one couple in our group and then I realized I knew one other mom from back in my volleyball days!  We’re very excited about our future meetings and we already learned one fantastic tip – gripe water right before bed.  Ellie loves the taste and she sleeps a smidge longer than before.  She’s always slept pretty well, so no complaints, but this is the icing on the cake.

2. We’re working on minimizing binky/mimi/pacifier use.  Brian did some research and we decided it would be best to try to scale back using the binky only when she’s going to sleep.  It’s been good I think for us because it forces us to interact with her more by singing or playing with her instead of just relying on the binky to soothe.

3. We had our six week appointment with our midwife yesterday and it was so good to see her!  She was very excited to see Ellie and she told us we were one of her favorite couples.  We’re very sad she’s retiring next fall to pursue her PhD, but are also very excited for her and the things that lie ahead for her.  Ellie and I were both great.  Ellie now weighs 10 lbs, 8 oz and she’s about 23 inches long.
